UPCOMING - Peace and War Utrecht

From the war in Ukraine to the ongoing genocide in Palestine, conflicts rage while defence budgets soar and local care crumbles. This evening invites us to look beyond daily headlines and explore the deeper forces shaping war and peace.

Soheila Najand (complex systems science researcher, Minab / Global Solidarity Coalition) takes us through the global mechanisms that lead to war, examining how political, media, economic, technological, and military structures fuel conflicts.

Wendela de Vries (defence industry analyst, author, and researcher at Stop Wapenhandel) offers a factual analysis of the power relations and financial interests behind the global arms trade and European security policy.

Lidija Zelović (filmmaker, journalist, and scholar, known for her award-winning film Home Game) examines the war in Ukraine and the role of NATO, exploring how militarism and imperial interests place pressure on both security and democracy.
